Hey Dave,
Thanks for keeping us honest! By a "V-70 Sony Clei",
I assume you are referring to the following:
NX70V CLIE Handheld
PEGNX70VKIT1
If this is your model, then Sony does not make a modem or
modem 'card' for it,
(see http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/specs/clie/nx70v.pdf)
and they are not officially aware of any third party that does.
Moreover, the CLIÉ PEGA-MD700 56K Analog modem does not appear
to be compatible with the NX70-V. Sony technical support
recommends use of a wireless LAN card in cooperation with
a wireless access point, not really a viable solution to gain
56K dialup-type access. They said some CF modem devices may
be available, but use of them would not be supported. So much
for help from tech support this time.
That said, there appear to be a few CF (CompactFlash) modems
out there, and some folks have evidently installed some of
them successfully, as evidenced at cliesource.com:
http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=83
It sounds like one of the models they are instaling successfully
is the Ambicom CF56M-EZ. This appears to be a CompactFlash
type I device. I'm unsure why you specifically asked about
a type II device. Some of the newsgroup discussions lead
me to believe a type I device is more likely to work with
Palm stuff.
If you really want to use a CF modem this looks like the most
promising direction, even though it is not an officially
Sony-supported application.
Please let us know if this information helps you.

Steve I talked to you on the Radio a few weeks back, the question I
asked was do you know of a flash IImodem card for a V-70 sony clei. I
have checked your web site several times and have not seen a update
for the Trish and Holly show. I would appreciate any info you could
give me on the subject
Thanks Dave
